Ski  equipment for the way you ski

If you haven't bought skis within the last five years or so, you are in for a very pleasant surprise. Ski equipment has been steadily improving with an emphasis on having more fun when you ski. Gone are the days of the long planks. Today technology and design advances in ski equipment have created skis that make even the newest beginner better right off the bat.

Much of the improvement comes in the shape of the newer skis, called parabolic or sidecut skis. They make turning on the ski so much easier than in the past. Generally the deeper the cut in the middle of the ski, the quicker and tighter turns you can make. If you like to carve up the powder get ski equipment with a wider waist. If make the S turns is your thing, a smaller waist ski will probably do the job better.

Length is not nearly as much an issue as it used to be because of the advancing designs of the newer ski equipment. Generally speaking, you can do very well with a ski that is chin to nose height on you if you are either a beginner or intermediate skier. If you are an expert you may opt for the forehead length skis.

Before actually starting to shop for ski equipment, be sure to honestly assess your own skill level and what you will actually be using the skis for. Are you mainly a relaxed skier who stays on easy to moderate trails, or the aggressive downhiller who loves to go fast? Each type of skier calls for a different style of ski equipment.
